If The Radical Left Takes Over, You Can Kiss Your Freedoms Goodbye

"The pattern is as predictable as it is obvious. When the left (especially the far left) talks about freedom, it means freedom for those who conform. When it talks about diversity, it means my way or the highway. Political correctness is to be enforced. Dissent will not be tolerated. So much for the left bringing “liberation.”

Shutting Down Dissenting Views

Of course, the left will say to us, “No, you are the ones who require conformity. You are the ones who refuse to recognize marriage when it’s different than what you’re used to. You are the ones who want to forbid a woman from having control over her own body. It is our side, the left, which loves freedom.”

But that objection misses the point.

Our argument is that marriage in our society has a certain meaning and history and function. To tamper with that is to tamper with our foundations.

But if two men or two women want to live together, that’s their choice. We simply don’t want to be required to validate or celebrate that choice.

When it comes to abortion, notice that, despite our abhorrence of that sinful practice, we’re not forcibly stopping women from having abortions. We’re arguing that no one has the right to terminate the life of an innocent baby and we’re advocating a change in the laws and the culture through political and persuasive means.

The Gospel Coalition's (selective demonizing) Problem

Forthcoming "GOSPEL Coalition" Conference
The Gospel Coalition's (selective demonizing) Problem.
I personally have no issue with celebrating the Civil Right's achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  As a public school student my K-12 educators took a week each school year teaching us about the Civil Right's movement in American history.  Dr. King was always presented as a hero.  In speech class I remember choosing King's historic, "I Have a Dream" monologue.

Providentially, the Lord used Dr. King's courage and God-given oratory skills to help root out deep racial prejudices and evils within our nation, (particularly down South).  Having said that, if the Gospel Coalition/Desiring God ministry is going to scold and/or condemn Christians for voting for Donald Trump (over and against Hillary Clinton) or Roy Moore (over and against Doug Jones) you have a serious consistency problem.  Dr. Robert Gagnon has expressed this same concern repeatedly the past few months.  In the interest of time, and because Gagnon is a more skilled communicator, I post this article from the pen of my (Facebook) friend Dr. Robert Gagnon:

"I would actually like this publicly explained by Joe Carter (a senior editor at The Gospel Coalition) and other friends of mine from the TGC who agree with his TGC editorial "The Nonpartisan Solution to Our Roy Moore Problem," that on the one hand it is "a prime example of hypocrisy" and "the opposite of integrity" (Carter) for Christians to vote for Roy Moore as an effective vote against pro-abortion, pro-transgender, pro-"gay marriage," anti-religious-liberty Doug Jones but on the other hand perfectly acceptable for TGC to put on a "MKL50" conference in April 2018 celebrating the life of Martin Luther King Jr., a man who engaged in incredibly profligate sexual behavior throughout his years as a civil rights leader?

This is a genuine question. If it is a question that I have, I'm sure many others will be puzzled as well.

Don't get me wrong: I'm glad that TGC is having the conference. Racial harmony and rooting out racial prejudice is important for the church. Yet it seems like a gross inconsistency with the stance taken against fellow Christians who, while disturbed by the allegations made about Moore's four-decades-old behavior, prefer to cast an effective vote against Jones. Perhaps I'm missing something.

I'm sure the response would be something like: This conference doesn't endorse MLK's immoral sexual life but rather seeks to build on the positive legacy of his civil rights work in promoting racial justice and harmony. Sounds good to me. Now why not apply the same reasoning to voting for Moore: Those who do so are not condoning sexual assault but rather acting out of concern for the immorality of abortion and the "LGBT" agenda as well as concern for protecting religious liberty.

"Widespread (Home School) Abuse?" Liberal Ideology and End Goals

Is Home Schooling Inherently Dangerous?
Leave it to Democrats and Liberals from the Left-coast to capitalize on a few cases of truly insane and evil "home school" parents to try and legislate more restrictive rules on everybody else (who does home education).

In a story published today by Western Journalism under the title "California Presumes Homeschooling Parents Are Child Abusers, Seeks Invasive New Restrictions" Becky Loggia reports,
As California lawmakers continue their track-record of controversial decisions, one announcement in particular has caused an outcry for its overreaching presumption: that all homeschoolers must also be child abusers.
According to The Washington Examiner, the plan set out by lawmakers would be to force parents into proving to the government that they are, in fact, fit to be a parent.
The homeschooling parent — per legal requirement — would have to meet the government’s required checklist via home visits, interviews, and other oversights, effectively increasing the burden on the parent to prove themselves parentally fit.
And many have expressed concern over stripping away the legally protected option of homeschooling and deeming it as absurdly unconstitutional.
The decision seems to be in light of the horrifying case of David and Louise Turpin who were registered as homeschoolers to the 13 children that authorities found chained, malnourished and abused.
The Los Angeles Times posted an OP-ED with quotes like this- Abuse in homeschool settings is all too common, even if it doesn’t always make international headlines.   Yes, you heard me right. Public school advocates, who have been literally overrun with teacher/student sex abuse and molestation cases are taking cheap shots at home school advocates and families concerning "widespread abuse." Regarding public school teacher/student sex abuse stories I'm talking about this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this (to mention but a few). You cannot make this stuff up.

I am not suggesting that most public school teachers are sexual predators (hardly); I am just trying to make the point that Liberals are hypocritical and that education, like religion, and gun ownership should not be determined/controlled by elected officials.
