The Wedding of the Ages (Revelation 19:7-10)

 Revelation 19:1-10
The Wedding of the Ages!
 (pt. 3)

INTRO- Recall the “Wedding of the Century” between the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana.

1) Because His judgment of the wicked is both deserved and fair
(Revelation 19:1-2)

2)  Because His judgments are permanent and unalterable
(Revelation 19:3-4)

3) Because the All-Powerful King Shall Soon Return (to Reign and to Rule)

       (Revelation 19:5-6)

4) Because Christ's Precious Church Will Soon Participate in the "Wedding of the Ages"
      (Revelation 19:7-9)

For Further Reflection/Application

In what ways will the future “Marriage of the Lamb” far surpass the so called  “Wedding of the Century” between Prince Harry and Lady Diana? (Some will recall that Harry and Diana tragically divorced in 1996). Think back on our exposition of Hosea 3 (Hosea/Gomer).

Are you going to enjoy the eternal blessings of this glorious celebration? How one be certain that they are truly "in Christ?" (see Rev. 19:9; 22:12-17)

If your Christian marriage is hurting (note Eph. 5), and if you are not doing everything you can (Romans 12:18) to strengthen/heal/improve this covenant relationship, how does the glory of the gospel and the integrity of your Christian witness also suffer? Go back and listen to what was said in relation to Ephesians 5 in this morning’s message.

If a fellow believer is not concerned about what’s happening or not happening within their failing marriage, how should you as a Christian friend respond? (Eph. 4:15; Prov. 27:6; Gal. 6:1-4)

The image of a Bridegroom and Bride was chosen by God to depict the spiritual relationship between Christ and the Church. Think more about the practical and theological significance of Ephesians 5:22-33 against the backdrop of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb in Revelation 19.

In what ways can believers manifest true joy and gratefulness in view of the forthcoming Marriage Supper of the Lamb? (note Rev. 19:7-8)

When you study biblical eschatology (the theology of last things) does it normally lead you to loftier heights of wonder, love, and praise? If not, go back over the implications of Revelation 19:1-10 and recall what we’ve learned in the past few expositions.

Many people who bash theological preaching have no understanding of it’s relationship to biblical doxology. And yet we wonder why so much Christian worship today is emotion-driven and/or trite/shallow. A + B = C For an example consider what prompted Paul’s exalted doxology in Romans 11:36 or Jude’s doxology in Jude 24-25.

Much of what is called relevant preaching today is heavy on practical points of “wisdom” and light on content and exposition. Jesus’ sermon on the Mount (note Matthew 5-7) is full of both!
